Fan Fiction Contests
In 2010 and 2011, Hairy Ticks of Dune in conjunction with Jacurutu held the first ever Dune Fan Fiction Contest and the first ever McDune Parody Contest.
As unofficial, unauthorized and completely fan-organized events, these contests were dedicated, repectively, to honoring and exploring the legacy of Frank Herbert as represented by his Dune books and stories, and to mocking and deriding the numerous cheap, low-quality pulp travesties which have been published by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert under the “DUNE” brandname.
